Rita left the turmoil in Sudan two years ago. She is fierce about doing what she needs to do to make a better life for her children and eventually, become a contributing citizen.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n But Corona Virus hit…<\/p>\n “Mom, what does this mean?”\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n “Habibi, I don’t know.”\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n For immigrant families, an already complicated life became much more complicated. Fathers were laid off and had to figure out unemployment when they could not even read the application. Mothers who don\u2019t know English became full-time teachers. Children were lost in the shuffle.<\/span><\/p>\n But for Rita\u2019s family life didn\u2019t fall to pieces\u00a0<\/span>BECAUSE YOU GAVE.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n Rita\u2019s family still needed English, still needed community – perhaps more than they had before. Now there were endless updates and orders to understand. Now she had to \u201cteach\u201d her children. Her low English skills made it impossible without support.<\/span><\/p>\n Your gifts enabled families like Rita’s to have someone to help them walk through this new COVID-19 world.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n In many ways, connections grew deeper because she knew that so much effort was going into everything that was done.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Welcoming internationals may look different during a pandemic, but the mission to share the hope and love of Jesus never will.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n NO VIRUS CAN STOP THAT!<\/strong><\/p>\n So now what?<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n This fall families will be safely learning together in person.\u00a0You can help Rita\u2019s children and other kids get the help they need to not fall dangerously behind!
